Here's Miss Dutchess' Favorite Poem:

Life
What is our life? A play of passion, Our mirth the music of division, Our mother's wombs the tiring-houses be, Where we are dressed for this short comedy. Heaven the judicious sharp spectator is, That sits and marks still who doth act amiss. Our graves that hide us from the setting sun Are like drawn curtains when the play is done. Thus march we, playing, to our latest rest, Only we die in earnest, that's no jest.

Dear Girls and Boys,

Welcome to first grade! I hope you are having a terrific summer. I can't wait to see you! We will have lots of fun reading, writing, and learning new things together. Do you know that you will have your own desk this year?

I have crayons, pencils, folders, scissors, paper, and a glue stick for you to use in our classroom.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you. We are going to have a fun filled year that will be exciting and you will learn many new things!

Your new teacher,
Miss Dutchess

Dear Parents,

Hello and welcome to the first day of first grade. I am looking forward to a fun-filled learning experience and hope you and your child are as well.

Please allow me to share a little about myself with you. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from University at Buffalo. I have completed my Master's program in Elementary Education at Niagara University.

I believe education is a very critical part of success. Along with that, I believe and all children can learn and succeed. With the right support and tools, I plan to help my students not only master this year's content, but be prepared for next year as well. In order for this to happen, I encourage you to be as involved as you would like to be this year.

I can be contacted in several ways throughout the year. I can be reached via email at s0696794@mail.niagara.edu. I will also send home classroom newsletters weekly, which will be filled with information about what will be going on that week in our room.

Again, I am very excited and am looking forward to a great school year.

Sincerely,

Miss. Dutchess
